AN OPEN CALL FOR ROAD TO JAPAN – “Better Community with Creatives: Art Expo” A JURIED ART SHOW NYC (October 4 – October 26, 2025)

Brooklyn Beauty/Fashion Labo (operated by J-Collabo) is calling for artists to join the new project “Better Community with Creatives: Art Expo.” This project aims to build a platform connecting Brooklyn, Japan, and the world, and to promote community development through collaboration with diverse artists.
NY residents who pass the screening will have their works exhibited and sold at Brooklyn Beauty/Fashion Labo (300 7th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215) in Park Slope, and will also be featured in a bilingual online gallery in Japanese and English for one year.
In addition, 10 works selected by the judges will be exhibited and sold in Tokyo (November 12–18, 2025) and Osaka (November 2025–February 2026).

 

CALL TO ARTISTS FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submission Deadline: Monday, September 8, 2025

Gallery Exhibition Dates: Saturday, October 4 – Sunday, October 26, 2025 (weekends 1–6 P.M.)

Opening Reception: Sunday, October 12, 2025 (1–6 P.M.)

Gowanus Open Studio: Saturday, October 18 – Sunday, October 19, 2025 (1–6 P.M.)

 

ELIGIBILITY

This call for submission is open to NY residents. There is no age restriction. Entry is open to all artists working in all traditional and non‐traditional formats. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Materials are unrestricted. Only one artwork may be submitted per artist. Any work not meeting these eligibility requirements can automatically be disqualified regardless of juror selection. Entries that differ significantly from their digital images may be rejected.

 

SIZE REQUIREMENTS

2D works: 18 × 24 inches or smaller
3D works: 18 × 18 × 18 inches or smaller

 

SUBMISSIONS / FEES

Submission fee of $30 for one artwork submission, with up to three images of that artwork, is due by 11:59 PM on the deadline date. All entry fees are non‐refundable. Images must be JPG or PNG format, maximum file size 50MB each. Submission is via the Google Form: [https://forms.gle/BfJnTeiurkMnu4jc9]. Payment will be collected during form submission.

Artists are responsible for shipping fees and return labels. BC2 Art Expo will retain a 30% commission on all exhibition sold artwork.

 

JUDGING

The Exhibition Committee will jury the submissions and the exhibition. All judging for the competition will be online and artwork is blind juried. Entries that differ significantly from their digital images may be rejected. Decision of the jurors/curators is final.

DIRECTIONS FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION

Complete the Google Form at [Insert Google Form Link]. Upload up to three images of your one artwork (JPG or PNG, max 50MB each). Pay the $30 application fee via the payment section in the form. Submit before the final deadline: September 8, 2025.

 

ENTRY AGREEMENT

With the submission of artwork into the ROAD TO JAPAN – “Better Community with Creatives: Art Expo” Show, the artist agrees to all the terms and conditions set forth in this prospectus.
