Rin Noguchi
Japanese Commercial Calligrapher
Owner, gallery restaurant : DISH
Born in Miyazaki and raised in Fukuoka, Japan,
I began studying calligraphy at an early age.
My aspiration to become an advertising designer led me to explore calligraphy as a form of visual expression—one that communicates beyond words.
I create brush lettering for a wide range of applications,
including advertising, editorial and web design, product packaging, corporate and retail logos, and title lettering.
My practice centers on Commercial Calligraphy,
transforming written language from something to be read into something to be seen.
I create lettering in response to the purpose, identity, and visual world of each product, brand, advertisement, or space.
While rooted in the traditional techniques of Japanese calligraphy, I seek to move beyond the established boundaries of the art form, creating lettering that can exist only for a particular word, place, or person.
Through brush lettering, I seek to visualize the beauty, energy, and individuality of language, creating work that responds to diverse styles, cultures, and messages both in Japan and abroad.
