Satoko Ohshiro
 

Exploring the themes of “tenderness” and “kindness”, Satoko’s work expresses self-control over things like coffee, love, and nature, which bring us joy and comfort. She embodies kindness with “breakable” ceramics—two matters that require caution in handling. Through her art, the viewer is invited to take an objective view of kindness and of the “dependence” and “desire” concealed within.

優しさ、暖かさを追い求めるアーティスト。

コーヒー、恋愛、自然。人をリラックスさせる優しいもの。 しかし、のめり込み過ぎれば依存となる事もある。 そうならない為に、心のコントロールが必要であるとサトコは考える。

彼女は、「割れる」陶を使って優しさを表現する。それは、優しさとは、壊れやすいもので あり、 扱いにコントロールが必要な事を意味している。 「依存」や「欲」、優しさの中に 潜むそれら裏面も含めて表現する事で、鑑賞者にその大切さを語りかける。
